The Honorable Jeff Smith

Judge Smith has been President Judge of the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas since 1983, when he was appointed to office by Governor Dick Thornburgh. In 1985, he was elected to the office at the age of 32, becoming the youngest person ever elected judge in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Before becoming President Judge, he served Bradford County as Assistant District Attorney and as Family Court Hearing Master.

Judge Smith enjoys fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities. He is a member of the South Mountain Hunting Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, the Nature Conservatory, and the National Arbor Day Foundation. Judge Smith serves on the executive board of the Five Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of the Towanda Elks Lodge and Evergreen Lodge No. 163, F. and A.M., Valley of Towanda, A.S.R., Union Chapter No. 161, R.A.M.

A graduate of the Dickinson School of Law and the University of Pittsburgh, Judge Smith and his wife, Ann, are the proud parents of two boys, Schuyler and Simon.
