The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is comprised of the County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and 911 Communications. The department covers all of Bradford County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It provides support for citizens and first responders through resource and incident response coordination, emergency communications and training. The DPS ensures that as a county we work together to build, sustain and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from and mitigate hazards.

The National Weather Service and state officials declared Bradford County a Storm Ready County in 2000. The designation was recently renewed in 2014.
The Department of Public Safety is affiliated with the North Central Task Force, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, International Association of Emergency Managers, Keystone Emergency Management Association, National Safety Council, National Fire Protection Association, and International Association of Fire Chiefs.
