Erosion & Sedimentation Control
The purpose of this program is to control erosion and sedimentation from construction sites through the implementation of appropriate best management practices. The district is responsible for technical plan review, permitting assistance, site inspection and compliance through a delegation agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP).

Streams & Wetlands Regulations & Permitting
Through this PA DEP program, the district offers technical assistance, permit processing, site inspection and complaint handling services in an effort to better protect our local waterways.

Dirt & Gravel Roads
The Bradford County Conservation District offers technical and financial assistance to our local municipalities. This program addresses pre-selected local road segments by installing best management practices that address the environmental pollution potential present at each identified site.

Floodplains
With dramatically changing weather conditions and more severe flooding, we offer information to the general public on the importance of floodplains. The conservation district also works with the local municipalities to assist them in understanding, updating, and enforcing their floodplain ordinances to best protect individual’s private property, their families, and the safety of the general public.

Storm-water
The district works closely with its partner agencies in offering informational, educational and technical assistance in managing storm-water impacts on construction sites, crop fields and communities.

Watersheds
Many locals have banned together to address common environmental concerns by forming watershed organizations/associations. These groups are supported by the Conservation District through assistance in general group organization; writing bylaws; IRS filing status; public outreach; and grant searching, writing and administration.

Stream Technical Assistance
Our staff works with individuals and groups to address streams instabilities though technical assistance, survey, design, permitting and construction of stream rehabilitation projects. These projects reduce sediment inputs and create aquatic and terrestrial habitat while protecting the landowner’s property.

Teacher Training Opportunities
District educational staff offers a full range of teacher training and educational opportunities associated with the PA Dept. of Education Standards for Environment and Ecology and Science and Technology, as well as all natural resource management related issues. Trainings and education sessions are conducted as informal courses, or formally with local colleges and university campuses.

Municipal Officials Opportunities
Municipal officials are vital to the very foundation of government in Pennsylvania. Their role is increasing in responsibility and sophistication. The Bradford County Conservation District places a high priority on providing informational and educational services for municipalities. The conservation district remains open and flexible to adapting any programs to municipal needs.

School Program Opportunities
Field, classroom and research programs are offered in all media formats and for all natural resource issues related to Bradford County and PA. Envirothon, poster contests and land judging are sponsored by the district. District staff are certified facilitators for a number of agency programs.

Agricultural Land Preservation
With rapidly disappearing farmland and enterprise, our interest is to provide agricultural protection and easements, donation incentives, promote agricultural security areas, improve economic viability, farm ownership transition and land use planning.

Agricultural Technical Assistance
Our team works with landowners and producers to plan, design and install best management practices aimed at improving water quality, animal health and income. Other assistance includes: agronomy, soil and manure sampling, grazing, pest management, invasive and exotic species control and cost-share assistance.

Chesapeake Bay Program
The Susquehanna River provides 50 percent of the Chesapeake Bay’s fresh water, draining every acre of Bradford County. Services include farm nutrient management planning, financial assistance to help protect soil and water, special project grant opportunities and education for farmers and any land-users.

Nutrient Management Program
Agricultural nutrients are regulated by Pennsylvania’s Clean Streams Law and/ or Nutrient Management Act. We would be glad to assist you with conservation and nutrient management planning, plan writing certification, composting, mortality handling, home, garden and grounds fertilization, cost-share assistance, education and outreach and complaints.
