Department Description

The district attorney directs prosecution of crimes in the county. The work involves evaluating cases, deciding the program for prosecution and representing the Commonwealth’s interests in court. The district attorney makes prosecution decisions and sets policies for caseload administration. Most investigative work is done by police agencies, because the DA’s office has only one investigator. The county victim/witness services program is handled through the DA’s office.

  • Chad Salsman, Esq.

    District Attorney

    Chad M. Salsman serves as district attorney, directing all criminal prosecutions, two assistant DA’s, four supporting staff, and a county detective. Chad was elected in 2019, having practiced law through government service and private practice since 2001.  Chad is a Bradford County native, graduating from Wyalusing High School in 1994.  He holds degrees from Lehigh University and the Widener University School of Law.
