Infrastructure and Utilities
Depending on which of the townships or boroughs a resident or business is located, the following utility companies and services are available.
Electricity:
Electricity for the county’s townships and boroughs is provided by the following companies – Penelec, Tri-County Rural Electric Company , Sullivan County Rural Electric Cooperative, Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. or Wellsboro Electric.
Gas:
Regular gas service is provided by two main companies – PPL Gas and Valley Energy. Natural gas service for residents is provided by UGI.
Water and Sewer:
Depending on the township or borough, some towns provide water, while other towns are serviced by a water utility company like Aqua. Sewer service varies from town to town.
Communications:
Service providers include AT&T. Verizon, Comcast, North Penn Telephone, Time Warner, Frontier Communications and Empire Access. In addition, two satellite providers now offer internet and phone service: Hughesnet and ViaSat.
